Individual Therapy

Migrating my clinical practice on-line in 2020, I maintained the belief that successful treatment rests in the strength of the therapeutic alliance. Based on connection, collaboration, mutual respect, and the therapist’s empathetic and compassionate stance, the therapeutic alliance is the foundation for my individual relationship with each client.  Integrating traditional talk therapy, the teachings of mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy, my approach is born of each person’s needs and desires.

People seek therapy for various reasons. I support clients to:

  • boost self-esteem, coping strategies, and emotional boundaries

  • alleviate symptoms of depressed mood and anxious overthinking

  • manage anger and stress

  • recognize how differing communication styles impact intimacy and interpersonal dynamics

  • understand the impact of past on present, and beyond

  • engage life’s myriad of blindsides, uncertainties, and changes

FAQs

  • Convenience, comfort, and consistency are companions when it comes to teletherapy. Traffic jams, inclement weather, or matters that may render one homebound are no longer obstacles to treatment. Of utmost importance, I notice people are likely to engage in meaningful therapeutic process when in surroundings of their choosing.

I meet with clients on an easy to navigate, HIPAA compliant teletherapy platform. All that’s needed is an iOS or Android-enabled device and internet connection.

  • Traditional talk therapy, aka, psychotherapy, is a process by which a person talks thru their thoughts, feelings, and circumstances with a trained mental health professional.

I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space for individuals to hear and trust their own voice, discover effective ways to relate to others, and cultivate compassionate self-acceptance and personal emotional growth.

  • Mindfulness is a calm and patient mental state achieved by bringing one’s attention and awareness to the present moment.

I assist people in the practice of mindful living, and the incorporation of mindfully based stress reduction methods such as body scanning into everyday situations.

  • Cognitive behavioral theory suggests one’s thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and behaviors are interrelated, acknowledging the mind/body connection.

Incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques and exercises into therapy sessions, I support clients to:

    • recognize and rework negative/unhelpful thought patterns

    • set and meet realistic intentions

    • practice constructive self-talk

    • restructure cognitive distortions such as overthinking and catastrophizing

  • Teletherapy sessions are covered under most behavioral/mental health insurance plans.
